Job Description: KEY RESULT AREAS:
The role of the Freight Procurement Manager relies heavily on the relationship between the BPO provider and the Customer to deliver the service to meet agreed business requirements. This role will require a high level of influencing, teamwork and customer focus in order to ensure service level requirements are met for the corporation and the plants. This role will build strategic relationships with corporate functions and the plants, including regular business reviews with Senior Level Management to ensure requirements are being met. This role must have deep freight specific expertise obtained through managing the end-to-end sourcing process, including defining requirements, negotiations, implementation, and category management.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as primary interface between Ralcorp Business Partner and Freight Management to ensure their business requirements are understood and strategies are developed and implemented to meet business targets.
Ensure Organizational Freight Requirements are addressed by BPO provider and develop, manage and implement strategies in alignment with Indirect Procurement to deliver agreed divisional savings targets and other benefits that significantly impact financial results.
Add value to internal and external customers through the ongoing setting and tracking of performance improvement measures. Provide ongoing feedback to raise collective performance
Strong and proven negotiation skills and contracting experience with multi-million dollar, multi-location complex Freight supplier agreements.
Strong organizational and project management experience including the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization
Ability to manage relationships effectively with all levels within work environment & supplier organizations
Lead and support interfaces between BPO provider and Freight Teams to establish compliance metricies, recommend policies and procedures as well as implementation of performance tracking.
Define accountabilities for compliance tracking, analysis, reporting and customer participation.
Define options to resolve cross divisional issues and escalate these through the governance structure
Assure establishment and management of service level agreements (SLA's).
Ensure local delivery of SLA's against key metrics (issue resolution, security of supply, cost, risk mitigation, and customer feedback.
Manage Supplier Performance and Contract Compliance
Review supplier quality/service scorecards and assist to resolve issues and bridge gaps
Determine where exception processing is taking place and work with the Category Managers and Freight Teams to determine how to proactively address expectations/gaps
Drive standardization across all divisions (e.g. contracts, software, and processes)
Lead Network Teams in Strategic Sourcing and Category Management activities to continuously enhance the service which is provided to the business and gain tangible measurable benefits.
Facilitate network teams to work together on creating solutions to form win-win partnerships
Support team members to see how their ideas can be combined in order to create value for the entire organization
Job Requirements: EDUCATION:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a BS/BA in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business Engineering, Finance, or related discipline.
EXPERIENCE:
5 - 7 years experience in sourcing, purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, or relevant technical/analytical discipline.
Successful track record with measured results managing non-production expenditures and sourcing indirect categories.
Working knowledge and experience with strategic sourcing processes a plus
Effective Negotiation skills
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, with a strong influencing and persuasive talents
Experience with MRP systems is a must; experience with JD Edwards' system would be a plus
Effective interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
